Dear Tsunami,

I'm here in the Philippines but my mind is constantly thinking about all of you. I hope that all of you are doing well. It's great seeing God work over here, but I'm glad to also hear of how God is working in many of your lives.

The year 2010 is coming to an end in about 5 months time and when I come back, let's be ready to move onward to higher ground. I've been talking to Teresa here and we are definitely looking forward to the next half of this year and we miss you.

Get ready as we move on to higher ground! Tsunami - let's shake this world! :)

Dear Tsunami,

As the month of June approaches, we look forward to a month filled with activities. We kick off the month with a Palau Ubin trip tomorrow! I'm looking forward to meeting you all and catching up (literally while cycling).

Combined Uth Worship is this Saturday too! Come and listen to the 'Real Gospel'.

Following that, some of us will be away for church camp for a week, but when we are back, there will be definitely be something for you all.

Hi Tsunamians,

God is still on the throne and He is still in control!

This week has been great! As we look forward to the week, join us on Friday (16 April) in church as we have a time of worship and prayer. We will be spending most of the time praying and talking to God. I encourage you to join us from 7pm to 9pm.

Saturday is our first kite-flying activity at Marina Barrage organised by Ruby! Let's support her and come for this exciting activity! We are meeting at 12pm at Marina Bay MRT Station. I heard that there's going to be a competition. Come and find out more!

Vibe is next Saturday (24 April)! While some of our guys are serving in the preparation of the food and stuff, let's encourage them by inviting our friends in! There will be a chinese chess and international chess competition and I highly encourage you to invite your friends to take part in this competition.

Bianca is John's friend who got saved over easter. Let's hear the story behind...

Bianca was actually my ex classmate from Zhonghua Sec. She made the decision to trust Christ on the Good Friday when our church had the musical. It all happened by God’s plan now that I think back, it kinda happened when she started asking me these questions about God cos we both stayed at Hougang and after a long day of school sometimes we might happen to take the same bus. I didn’t think much of it then but the period after our 'O' levels when I thought everyone would go their separate ways. I had just started on JC and had finished school, she happened to spot me from the bus she was on to Ngee Ann poly, she called me and said she saw me walking. Then, she asked if I wanted to go jogging that day and so I agreed as I was pretty free that day. One thing led to another, and some time later she asked me to run a 5km run with her, along this course she really asked me about Christianity and along with other questions I found hard to answer.

It was then it struck me, God seemed to be leading someone my way and though I had ignored it before, it was so clear I couldn’t anymore so I found the opportunity to share with her. She was very open and receptive so I asked her for the musical on Good Friday which she agreed, and there all praise be to God, she made the decision to accept Christ during the invitation by pastor Jason. Now that’s it happened, I can see how his hand moved and I hope it will be a blessing to you all as it was to me!

Combined Uth Sports Day

Sweat it out in the sun this Saturday (10 April) at CCAB. Dominic has organised this sports outing for the youths in the ministry to interact with one another so do make use of this opportunity to work out and have fun!

Soccer starts at 2pm till 4pm. Basketball starts from 4pm to 6pm. Bring your friends in, form a team and play! See you then!

Kite Flying!!

Ruby is organising a Kite Flying Activity for Tsunamians on 17 April (Saturday)!

She has bought five kites and we will be having a kite competition on that day and the winner can choose a kite and bring it home!

It's going to take place at Marina Barrage - a beautiful place located at the south of Singapore.

There will probably be a picnic as well! Ruby needs help in preparing the food eg. sandwiches, fish/sotong balls, cookies. Anybody interested or willing to volunteer their services can contact her at 91457799.

Hey Tsunamians!

I just got back from a camp. It lasted for the last five days and it was a great experience for me as I got to interact with different people from all around the world.

Well, come tomorrow (Friday), there will be Tsunami Worship and the sharing will be on Hebrews 3. Do come and study the Word of God.

On Saturday, it's Vibe! A new menu will be unveiled! I thank God for the people serving in the team. It's been wonderful interacting and working alongside them. Vibe is from 2pm to 8pm in the basement on Saturday!

Hi guys,

It is with much joy that I write this to you. The school holidays is starting soon and isn't that a good break to have after the first term in school. I guess all of you have different experience about school thus far, but it is definitely good to take a break and get ready for the next term.

The school holidays will see a few activities such as the Study Workshop conducted by myself, the Muay Thai session as well as a possible movie night by Teresa. Well, I hope to see as many of you as possible for the activities.

Also, do pray with me as well with regards to the activities for the month of April. Pray if it is God's will for us to have more Tsunami worship. I guess maybe once a month may be too litte. Well, please pray and do give me your feedback as well.

Tsunami Chinese New Year Dinner

Tsunami had a Chinese New Year Dinner two days before the start of the Chinese New Year in church! Below, Ruby shares her thoughts about the event.

This is the first time I ever had steamboat in church with all of you and I really felt the warmth around the dining table. It's an awesome idea to have such a heart warming activity!

**three cheers to the person who piloted this event :)

Both JONs sat together as though they were real twin brothers,
Darren attempted to finish the whole pot of rice that was prepared for 20 (what a glutton! just kidding :P),
and guess what, Oliver prepared desserts for all! (good job boy!),
and we have the master chef who specially designed a french-like cruisine in addition to the chinese style steam boat dinner (it tasted great!)

At the end of the 2 hour steamboat session, I sensed and witnessed the love of the Lord brewing within every individual as I see everyone serving everyone (regardless of race, language or religion!)
For a finale,we all posed for a family photo! Check out the gorgeous faces of ours! :P

Thank you so much for those who set up and wash up. Your labour for the lord is recognised and greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for those who took precious time off their busy schedule to grace this event, for this steamboat dinner wouldn't be warm without you guys!
(for those who really wish to come but couldn't come for one reason or another, your presence is greatly missed...)
Last but most importantly, praise the Lord for being ever present even in this little get together that we just had!

Dear Tsunami,

A blessed Chinese New Year to everyone of you!

We thank God for the wonderful time at the Steamboat on Friday! It's a great time gathering together as God's family and just being able to enjoy the time of fun and fellowship!

Hi Tsunami,

It's great to go prawning as Tsunami on Tuesday! For me, it is a great way to relax after work and just a fun time gathering with you all. I had a good time and I learnt prawning and the technique for catching the prawns. Also, I managed to overcome my fear of touching prawns. :)

It's wonderful that Darren, Jason, Por, Dominic, Jolin and her friend, Jiahao, Teresa, Joseph, Oliver, Eleanor could come to this outing. I'm sure we all had a really good time and cheers to Jason for catching the first BIG prawn! And I mean really BIG!

We all had fun, but more than that, we had a sumptuous feast! But even more than that, we had a good time of fellowship and we thank God for the time spent together.

As we look ahead towards Uth Worship this Saturday, I hope to see all of you there! :)

Hi Tsunami,

It's the last week of January and last week saw our first Tsunami Worship of the year as well as Vibe on Saturday. I had a good time sharing the Word of God with you all and I hope that it has been beneficial to you as well. I enjoyed the time of worship and I hope that you have been blessed as well.

Vibe was great too! Priscilla, Samantha, Jason, Darren, Wei Ming (Darren's friend), Dominic, Giolo, Hanniel, Jiawen were some of the people in Tsunami who helped out in Vibe as well. It's great to see young people serving the Lord and giving their time and effort to the work! Keep it up people!

As we look forward this week, there will be Co-op Meeting on Friday and all are highly encouraged to come if you can make it. It is basically a meeting about Uth Ministry.

In the meanwhile, keep praying for Tsunami! We are praying for unity in the group and for 15 committed members who are ready to step out for the Lord.

As I start this new week on Monday morning, I'm writing this to let you all know that Tsunami is very much in my thoughts. I'm praying that God will raise up 15 core members in this group and I'm inviting you to pray with me too.

This Friday, we will be having our own Tsunami worship and Bible-study. We will be studying the book of Hebrews and I trust that it will be a great blessing to you.

On Saturday, it's Vibe! Let's be inviting our friends in for this event and as we step out in faith and boldness to ask, let's trust God to work in hearts.

An amazing song . but to treat it just as a song would be dissapointing.
Having gone through a past 3 weeks of difficulties and struggles. This song really struck my contemplation in my heart. Yes i had my problems . it was tough, Yes it was heartbreaking. But i was reminded , Everything is the Lord's and everything is of the Lord . even one cell in my body doesnt belong to me . This song shows how we shold be reacting to our problems in life .

Trials are not by chance. Trials are God's molding and shaping of us, just as how beautiful pottery is formed, they have to be put through an intense fire before the masterpiece is completed. but we can be comforted that even through our intense fires, God our master potter is watching over us all the time ! The main reason why we are unhappy when trials come is not really because of the problem itself. It's because we refuse to let God work, thats why we are unhappy and miserable all the time. Singing this song reminds me of the story of Job, who though he lost everything, his family, his possesions and even his health, he found his all in all, his everything in God alone.

Job 1:21 And he said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD."

Heb 12:5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

So my dear brothers and sisters. personally speaking, i know its really hard but hey lets be happy and thankful when we are in trials ! Trials are allowed by God so that we may turn back to Him and cast our full dependance on Him, some trials are made bcos of our own foolishness and He gives us this trials for us to realize our sin and turn back to Him, and some trials are there so that through this trial we are molded more and more into His image. But Though we are in these trials we are never out of our Father's hand. He is always there, Catching us when we fall, picking us up and giving us grace and mercy and forgivness. And He will never put us through a trial which we cannot bear . What a wonderful God we have ! Instead of " looking at the bright side " , Let's look to God for everything ! What do you want to be in 2010

Hey guys and girls,

Today I would like to share on the view that God wants you to portray in this year, and prayerfully beyond that!

Some of us may be discouraged, for the lack of opportunities that avails to us in terms of service, where bigger and older people are always given the chance to serve.

Some of us are too caught up with the things of this world, that we neglect the loving arms of God.

But today, I come here to tell you, everyone here have great potential in them, and you have to believe it. God's heartbeat, is for everyone to be close and intimate to him, and nothing in this world will be able to short-change that.

If you are discouraged today, I hope that it will be a righteous and holy dis-satisfaction in you. Jumping in to serve in whatever ways or capacity you are given to, and not look back.

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. - Luke 9:62

God today wants to use you! Are you willing to be used by God?

Guys, always remember. Be faithful in little things, and God will make you ruler of MANY things. If you can't even do a simple thing, forget about doing great things for God. Period.

If you are too caught up with the glamour and riches that the World affords, can I today say that you are just enjoying mere temporary pleasures, that do not last in the eyes of God?

Read up Luke 15 for 3 parables, that the Lord used to teach us today.

John 10:10b - I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.

What do you want to be in 2010?
The ball is in your court.

A life that is full of joy, or a life of regret.

Dear Tsunami , I love you all and i dont want any of us to fall or stumble because of gossiping. The Lord has spoken to me concerning this topic and i thought it would be good to share what ive learned with all of you :) To God be the Glory

Gossiping,

It is a commonly known word yet so greatly misunderstood .
What is Gossiping ?
Gossiping is simply any communication that hurts others . spreading false truth about someone or sharing information of a person/s to people who have no business about it.

Gossiping is in a way telling God . " God, you're not the only one who has the right to judge ppl. i have that right too " By Gossiping we are judging that person . Which is totally wrong my brothers and sisters, Only God has the right to judge , we have no right to because we ourselves we have faults .

Romans 14:10 " But why doest thou judge thy brother ? or why doest thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgement seat of Christ. "

In matthew 7:3 it says " And why beholdest thou the speck in your brother's eye, but considereth not the plank that is in thine own eye" The speck in your brother's eyes and the plank in ours represents that we cant go around gossiping about others because we ourselves are not perfect and have also done wrong. Get what i am saying ?

Ephesians 4:29 NIV " Do not let any un-wholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only that what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen . "

God tells us to exhort one another and to encourage each other with our words not to let any un-wholesome talk out from our mouth.So my brothers and sisters in Christ , lets stop talking bad about another, i know its very tempting. beleive me ive done this before. but ultimately there is no gain in this. and we are not loving our brother by doing this. when we gossip about someone . we are hating that someone. its either you love or you hate. there is no in between . so my dear brothers and sisters Let us put aside all unloving talk and love one another just as Christ loves us.

1 John 4: 7,8 " Beloved let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God for God is love "

1 John 4: 20,21 " If a man say I love God and hateth his brother, he is a liar for he that loveth not his brother whom he can see, how can he love God whom he cannot see ? And this commandment we have from Him that he who loveth God love his brother also. "

1 Corinthians 13 : 1-3 ( NLT )" If i could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didnt love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal." 2 " If i had the gift if prophecy and if I understood all of God's secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didnt love others. I would be nothing." 3 " If i gave everything i have to the poor and even sacrificed my own body, But if i didnt love others, I would have gained nothing. "

With God's help we can overcome the influence of this deadly sin ! as this new year starts, let us start it off right with God, let us love others more and more each day :) Hope this blesses you. Take care and God bless. Love ,

This week, we welcome back the team from Cambodia!

Let's try to hear from them about their experiences and see how God has worked in their lives.

Also, coming up tomorrow is Uth Ministry Watchnight Service, a thanksgiving and worship session at church, 360 Dunearn Road. It begins at 7pm to 10pm.

Instead of the usual party and countdown, make the effort to come down and reflect back on the year and be thankful for the blessings that God has brought in your life.

And on Friday, we will be going for a time out in the sun at CCAB at 3pm. Sports includes soccer, volleyball, captain's ball. Let's move those muscles and celebrate New Year's Day by sweating it out. Keep your afternoon to evening free.

After our discussion, we have come to some conclusions regarding the direction that we are taking for 2010.

Our goals for 2010 are:
To be Word-filled.
To be united.

We will be meeting every Friday for Tsunami Worship, where we will have our worship, prayer and preaching.

We will be having our time of fun and fellowship through various activities organised once a week.

Some of our brethren have decided to take up the blog ministry as well.

Thanksgiving by John Ho

In Tsunami Camp, John Ho served as one of the leaders of a team.

Here, he shares his thanksgivings about the camp.

Firstly, I like to thank God for Marcus and the games team. They really did
a wonderful job of organising the games. I also praise God fo giving me such
lovable and cooperative team members in the camp in which I had the privilege to
lead.
Honestly, when Marcus sent me an sms asking me if I could lead, I really
didn't think I had it in me but I told him I was willing to try. It turns out that God
really enabled me by using so many people like Giolo and the other leaders who
were a real encouragement to help me.
This camp has really blessed my heart and praise God again for the labour of love by Teresa, Oliver, Dickson, Ruby, Eleanor, Daniel, Jiahao and Marcus and all those who had a part:). Well one thing I took back was that they "loved not themselves to the end". Let's have that spirit in tsunami okay!

Tsunami Camp has just ended!

Below is a thanksgiving by Wan Xin.

Firstly, I thank God for bringing me to this camp. If not for the camp’s course(Foundations of Faith) and sharing, I wouldn’t have known the severity of sin and the battles that the Lord fought for us to protect us from the devil and his fiery darts. Indeed the enemy is powerful, but we must be thankful that we have an even more powerful God who looks after His children.
I thank God for using the camp to strengthen my faith and allowing me to make important decisions such as to live my life for Him. And of course, thank God that through the camp, friendships were forged and I was able to catch up with my childhood friends and revive the good old days of playing sardines (hide-and-seek) in church. Haha.
Praise God for everything that He has done, is doing, and will do.

Thoughts about Tsunami Camp

Thank God for the amazing camp that just ended. I'm so thankful for the campers who came and made this camp possible. I pray that the lessons learnt will remain in the hearts of each camper and that the seeds of the Word of God will take root in the hearts and bring forth much fruit.

It has been a wonderful camp. The games were fun and I believe most had fun. Thank God for the games team who plan and prepared for the games. They made the camp so much fun. The time spent together with each other was precious too. Well, I hope that for the next year, our hearts will be united as one as we move ahead for the next year.

Let's seek the Lord together as Tsunami in the year 2010!

Starry Starry Night

After listening to today's message on Nehemiah, I'm deeply convinced that God was in the prom night event. The walls of Jerusalem was rebuilt in 52 days, which is a miracle. In the same way, for prom night, I saw the hand of God at work. The smooth-running of the event was simply the grace of God, a miracle from God.

God has raised up people who were willing to step in to serve at the last minute. These are people who had a servant's heart, people who were willing to submit themselves to my leadership in this area, people who were humble and also ready to be a blessing.

I thank God for Chang Shuo, Matthew, Joshua, Annabel, Jessica, Amanda, Charamine, Lynn Shan, Melody, Dickson, Jiahao, Eleanor, Teresa, Yu Fei, Glenda, Chia Wen and Patricia for serving together with me during this event. Though it was a physically tiring event, you all made it sweeter.

For the food team, I think they worked the hardest and I'm truly appreciative for the effort in the kitchen. Chang Shuo, Jessica, Annabel, Amanda and Yu Fei form the engine room for the event to take place smoothly.

Thank God for Chang Shuo for coming in so last minute and finding himself shouldering all the burden. He could have walked off, but he humbled me with his willingness to stay on despite serving in an area of little glamour.

Annabel is an amazing person in the kitchen too. Seeing her run up and down, ensuring the quality of the food is a blessing to my heart as well.

Though small, but she sure packs a punch, Jessica's selflessness during the whole event is a huge encouragement to the team. Though she felt uncomfortable because of an incident, yet she still continued on to serve.

Despite being relatively new, Amanda came and helped out too. It may not be the most pleasant experience that a newcomer has, but her efforts in the kitchen has not gone unnoticed.

I thank God for Yu Fei because even though he has an outreach event in the afternoon and he could have easily chosen to go home after that, he showed me what it means to be a servant-leader and his actions taught me so much that night.

The waitering team consists of Dickson, Melody and Teresa and they helped to make the guests feel welcomed by ensuring that their needs are met.

Thank God for Dickson who came despite still having his last A level paper. I'm thankful for the time that I could know him more along the course of us serving together. He was really a blessing to work with and a funny guy too. He helped made the guests feel welcomed and also helped in setting up the place.

Melody was a last minute addition to the team but her people skills and concern helped ensure that the needs of the people are met. Melody demonstrated to me what it means to have the kingdom's view and I'm so thankful for her coming in to help out at such short notice.

Serving together in Tsunami with Teresa has been a great experience. Her wisdom and love has always been a stablising factor in the team and at prom, she again helped mediate and work things out. It sure is good serving together with her.

The team of performers that wowed the audience are Patricia, Matthew, Joshua, Charmaine and Lynn Shan. With the talents that God has given them in the area of music, they managed to be a blessing to the people who came.

I asked Patricia if she could come and play the piano for us. Though she was busy, she agreed and drop by to play. Her presence and willingness to agree at such a short notice was been a big blessing to me and I believe to the people who heard her playing.

It was just about four days to prom when I realised that I need performers for the event. I thought of Matthew and asked him. Almost immediately, he agreed to give a performance. Though it wasn't easy on his part to choose and select the songs, I thank God for him being able to submit in the area of songs and it was nice to work with him.

I thought Joshua sang well during the event and he has a smile that capivates the audience. I really enjoyed his singing and performance.

Charmaine sang well with Joshua and Lynn Shan and her cheerful nature has indeed hit home with those who came. I'm glad that she was keen to come and be a blessing to the people in Tsunami.

I'm happy that Lynn Shan came and serve in this event. Though it wasn't the original plan for her to sing, but things managed to work out and she had the opportunity to sing and I'm blessed by the song that she did with Charmaine.

The others who came and made this event possible include Chia Wen, Glenda, Jiahao and Eleanor.

Chia Wen's help in setting up the place was essential to the successful running of the prom night. She helped in setting up the black cloth and doing her part for the decoration of the place. It's great to have her on board to serve together.

Glenda's service during the preparation for the event also contributed to the success of the event. Though she had musical practice in the afternoon, but she still came in the morning to pray and prepare.

Jiahao took much effort to prepare the games and it can be seen in the way he executed it that he gave much thought into it. Being the emcee for the event was a last minute decision that he had to made and he took a step of faith by agreeing to it and I think he did very well to rally the crowd and get their attention. I'm really glad to be serving with him in this event and in Tsunami.

Last but not least, I'm so blessed by Eleanor's example and testimony. She had just finished her exam in the afternoon when she decided to drop by church to take a look at the event and study for her exam on Monday. But instead, she helped out in waitering and other miscellaneous areas too. I'm blessed because I've seen how she chose to honour God in this area. She saw the need and step out to fill and meet that need. I believe God will honour her for this. It's great to be serving with her too.

This event was only possible because of God and all glory be unto His Name!

This event was also made possible because of the people that God has used and I can say that I saw Jesus in many of you that night!

Distress for Discipline

Malachi 3:3 says: 'He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.'

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God . One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: ' He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.'

She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it wasin the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, 'How do you know when the silver is fully refined?' He smiled at her and answered, ' Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it.' If today you are feeling the heat of the fire , remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

What i learnt:

God loves us and hence, disciplines us by putting us through adversity. It is through the toughest and most difficult of situations when we shift our dependence and focus on Him.
Even in times of trials and as much as we feel that we are alone in difficulty, God has not abandoned us. He is always there, holding our hands and running the race with us.
The fruit of righteousness is the result of His discipline. At the end of the day, we are shaped in Christ-likeness.

Sharing from the leader's heart

Yesterday, Pastor Jason shared about the need for teamwork in the church. I believe in Tsunami, there is a need for teamwork as well.

'The strength of the team is each individual member... the strength of each member is the team.' Phil Jackson

Let's remember some principles about teamwork and learn to apply it in Tsunami.

1. Diversity
I think it's good that in Tsunami, we have people from different backgrounds with different personalities. This allows us to use each others' strength to achieve a common purpose - to glorify God.

2. Unity
In spite of our differences, we must remember to be united for the glory of God.

3. Responsibility
Let's all take responsibility for the success of Tsunami and let's chip in to help and serve in any way possible.

4. Generosity
Be willing to give more than you are required to. Be willing to share the burdens with one another.

5. Intensity
We need to give our best in all we do. Don't do anything with a half-hearted attitude, but give your best.

6. Humility
Let's be humble and learn from each other.

7. Proximity
Start serving wherever God has placed you.

On the 21st of November, when your school holidays start, Tsunami has an event specially for you - Prom Night 2009!

So what is this all about?

Well, we at Tsunami know that school has ended for you and your holidays are starting and what better way to celebrate this joyous occasion than having a party to commemorate you moving on to the next year.

Proverbs 30:5
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

As I was reading Proverbs 30 today, I came across this verse that I would like to share.

Every single word of God is pure and tested. He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him. I look at my own life and see the many times that I don't trust Him and decide to live life on my own. What a shame. I gave up God's protection for my own pleasure and desire.

Let's be wise and learn to put our trust in God.

Lord, I pray that You will be with Tsunami and myself in a personal way. Help us to trust You each day and learn what is it like to rest in God. Forgive me for choosing to do things my own way and grant me renewed passion and desire to walk close to You. Take hold of Tsunami, unite our hearts, help us to glorify You.

Tsunami caters for youths that are in Secondary 3 to 5. This age group has its challenges and struggles. This is a period whereby we prepare for the next phase of our lives. I believe that the age group from sec 3-5 is an important one in which we lay our foundations and prepare for your next step, ITE, Poly, JC, etc.

As the leader of Tsunami, I'm thinking and praying through the possibility of starting some form of workshops or discussion group whereby we can prepare you for the life ahead.

I hope that through these workshops, you will be able to pick up some skills and build some foundations for your life.

Pray with me and give me your feedback and suggestions about what we can do. Below, I've included some big topics that we may going through as well as some issues within each topic.

What's up this week...

In 'What's up this week', we bring you two things happening this week.

First up, we have our combined Uth Worship on Friday. Do come and join our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ for a time of worship to our Father. It's been a while since we had our last combined worship. Come and be blessed.

Next, on saturday, we are supposed to have our dragonboating activity, but we may have to postpone it due to unforeseen circumstances, so we may be doing something else. Pray with us as to what we can do. Any suggestions, please let Marcus know.

A gift from God

I hope to share this story and may we start to appreciate the time that God has given to us.

My brother-in-law opened the bottom drawer of my sister's bureau and lifted out a tissue wrapped package.

"This," he said, "is not a slip. This is lingerie."

He discarded the tissue and handed me the slip. It was exquisite; silk, handmade and trimmed with a cobweb of lace. The price tag with an astronomical figure on it was still attached.

"Jan bought this the first time we went to New York, at least 8 or 9 years ago. She never wore it. She was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is the occasion."

He took the slip from me and put it on the bed with the other clothes we were taking to the mortician. His hands lingered on the soft material for a moment, then he slammed the drawer shut and turned to me.

"Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Every day you're alive is a special occasion."

I remembered those words through the funeral and the days that followed when I helped him and my niece attend to all the sad chores that follow an unexpected death. I thought about them on the plane returning to California from the Midwestern town where my sister's family lives.

I thought about all the things that she hadn't seen or heard or done. I thought about the things that she had done without realizing that they were special. I'm still thinking about his words, and they've changed my life.

I'm reading more and dusting less. I'm sitting on the deck and admiring the view without fussing about the weeds in the garden. I'm spending more time with my family and friends and less time in committee meetings.

Whenever possible, life should be a pattern of experience to savor, not endure. I'm trying to recognize these moments now and cherish them.

I'm not "saving" anything; we use our good china and crystal for every special event such as losing a pound, getting the sink unstopped, the first camellia blossom.

I wear my good blazer to the market if I feel like it. My theory is if I look prosperous, I can shell out $28.49 for one small bag of groceries without wincing.

I'm not saving my good perfume for special parties; clerks in hardware stores and tellers in banks have noses that function as well as my party going friends'.

"Someday" and "one of these days" are losing their grip on my vocabulary. If it's worth seeing or hearing or doing, I want to see and hear and do it now. I'm not sure what my sister would have done had she known that she wouldn't be here for the tomorrow we all take for granted.

I think she would have called family members and a few close friends. She might have called a few former friends to apologize and mend fences for past squabbles. I like to think she would have gone out for a Chinese dinner, her favorite food. I'm guessing I'll never know.

It's those little things left undone that would make me angry if I knew that my hours were limited. Angry because I put off seeing good friends whom I was going to get in touch with someday. Angry because I hadn't written certain letters that I intended to write one of these days.

Angry and sorry that I didn't tell my husband and daughter often enough how much I truly love them. I'm trying very hard not to put off, hold back, or save anything that would add laughter and luster to our lives.

And every morning when I open my eyes, I tell myself that it is special.

Every day, every minute, every breath truly is...a gift from God.

Tsunami's Day out @ the beach

This Sunday, Tsunami's Day out @ the Beach!

We welcome you and we hope to see you there.

What's up this week...

As we look back at the wonderful memories after the overnight cycling that we had, we are so thankful for how God has blessed us with good weather, great fellowship and safety. It's indeed His grace and presence that has been with us for the whole time.

We now look forward at the upcoming Tsunami worship that we'll be having this Friday. Let's come to seek our Lord in prayer and worship. Remember, Tsunami is not a community club or an interest group, we are a group that has fun, but a group that maintains our focus on God. So let's be praying.

Sunday is GLCC Beach Baptism and Tsunami will be heading out to the beach for our activity after the baptism. Tsunami's Day out at the Beach! Come in your beach attire and be ready for the sun, sea and sand.

Overnight Cycling Trip

Yesterday or rather today, Tsunami had their very first overnight activity. We went cycling through the night. At about midnight, we left East Coast Park and make our way to Changi Village, where we had some good food.

Following that, we travelled to Pasir Ris, Tampines, Bedok and back to East Coast. We have successfully completed about 50km during this whole trip.

Jiahao, Henrietta, Teresa, Ren Jing, Darren, Jiawen, Eleanor, Por, Sheng Yang, Giolo, Alex and Marcus made up the 12 daring adventurers who pushed themselves to the limit.
